Aditi Mayer
Visual Storyteller, Sustainability Activist, and Consultant
Aditi Mayer is a climate activist, sustainable fashion thought leader, photojournalist, and writer. For the last decade, she has explored the intersections of style, sustainability, and social justice in order to use fashion as a vehicle for climate action. A frequent speaker on topics of social and environmental justice, Aditi’s thought leadership has led to her international forums, having spoken at Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, to the Global Fashion Summit and multiple international Fashion Week forums. In 2013, Aditi had her start in the sustainable fashion movement after learning about the Rana Plaza Factory Collapse. Seeing the fashion industry’s disproportionate impact on people of colour globally, Aditi looked to understand the historical and socio-political underpinnings that allow the fashion industry to function in a colonial manner, rooted in exploitation and extraction of both labour and the natural environment. Since then, she has become a voice in the larger sustainability movement, approaching her work from multiple domains: from grassroots organizing in Downtown LA’s garment district to educating folks on the importance of diverse perspectives. Her work has been celebrated by the likes of Vogue, New York Times, i-D, Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, and more. She serves on the council of State of Fashion and Intersectional Environmentalist, and was named a National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellow in 2020, continuing her body of work of telling stories of resistance around the globe. Most recently, she hosted a documentary for Coach’s new series, The Road To Circularity-- exploring how fashion can become more circular.
